The SMS T2 women’s team started Summit Sisters because we encountered many vibrant female characters, outdoor opportunities and bonding potential in our separate athletic endeavors and wanted to bring those together under one umbrella. The goals of Summit Sisters are simple: 1) bring local women and girls together to 2) explore what our outdoor environment has to offer. Yesterday saw the culmination of those goals, in so many ways.
At 3:00 in the afternoon, the Kandahar Long Trail parking lot flooded with all kinds of colors. Pinks, greens, blues, stripes, dots and patterns filled the lot as the many different types of shoes, socks, shorts and headwear flowed out of the cars onto the trail head. That’s what we have a lot of at Summit Sisters: color.
We had 28 participants in our Bromley adventure, of which no significant part belonged to any one age group. We had elementary school girls, their teachers, and the high school and college kids in between. We had Nordic skiers, swimmers, marathoners and ski cross competitors. We talked about books and rollercoasters, told stories and made friends. Oh, and we climbed a mountain, only to turn around and slide (literally) back down.
I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. We’re so grateful to have such a fun group of people assembling for these hikes, mark your calendars for our final hike of the summer, August 20th!
