Well I’ll admit that I’m a little late to the blogging party. Now that it is after Labor Day I figured it was time for a summer update on where SMS T2 has been and where we are headed in the upcoming weeks. Its crazy to think how fast the summer training season has gone. The athletes have been putting in big training hours building a solid base for the competition season. After Alaska Camp in July, SMS T2 regrouped for a solid training block in the Stratton area. We were fortunate to have the Canadian National Men’s Team join our group for a two-week period in August as well as several other guest athletes. As a young coach it was really cool to learn from Tor Arne Hetland and Louis Bouchard who have both been coaching at the highest level for many years. Faster Skier has an article about the camp you can read here.
After a solid August block in the Stratton area and a short recovery week filled with fun activities, the team then made the trek across state lines to Lake Placid, New York for the annual USST camp in September. I think everyone can agree that moving the camp from October to September was a wise move, trading cold rainy skiing for perfect training temps and the start of changing foliage. Overall the camp was extremely productive and despite some sore ankles and heavy limbs everyone emerged unscathed and ready to come back stronger after two weeks of solid training.
The next big event on the SMS T2 schedule is the 100k skiathon coming up on September 20th. Check out more info for the event here and find out how you can support the athletes as they work towards their skiing goals!
