VermMontucky

Every summer, I spend between 4-6 months out East with the SMS T2 team, braving humid temps in exchange for endless forests of green, real Vermont maple syrup, and instagram-worthy apple orchards. Last week however, I got to share a little piece of Montana with the Vermonters! As part of our SMS T2 auction event last November, former coach Gus Kaeding and SMS alum Ryan Foster bid on a 2-day Montana fishing trip guided by my dad, better know as Papa Flow. After finishing up a solid month of training in Park City, Andy and I headed to Bozeman to join the fishing expedition and get a few extra days at home before returning to Stratton.
Over the course of four days we managed to pack in the full Montana experience. For those attending the SMS T2 auction this coming fall, here is a little teaser!

Andy and I still had some training to do so we dragged Kate and Ryan along for some high altitude adventuring! We headed up Sacajawea Peak for a Sunday hiking OD and were greeted by 360 degree views, wildflowers, and lots of snow and skiers making the most of the late season snowpack.

Although spring run-off in early June makes fishing a bit more challenging than usual, we did manage to catch a few trout and enjoyed two days floating and fishing on the Madison River!

I tried to teach Andy a few things about rowing when he wasn’t fishing. I think we only hit one rock so all in all a smashing success (no pun intended:) Even if the fishing wasn’t off the charts,  the weather definitely was! Our first day out on the water we saw exactly zero clouds and the thermometer hit 93 F!

We also went horseback riding up near Big Sky one afternoon which was a sweet and slightly different way to explore the Western landscape.

Look forward to updates from some of our other auction items this summer and thanks for checking in!
