Despite the rainy weather that greeted us in Vermont this morning, the stoke is high for the SMS T2 squad. Across the pond our USST athletes are absolutely slaying. Jessie just notched ANOTHER podium with a third place finish in Nove Mesto, and the next day anchored the women’s relay team (which Sophie led off) to a second place finish. Simi is so strong that he broke both of his triacs during the men’s relay, but still had a great showing (and beat the Canadian team). Andy demonstrated his versatility by competing in a city-show sprint Saturday, and then finishing second in a 42 Kilometer double pole the next day.
Post- Nationals was a reset time for the domestic crew. Paddy and Annie P. got down to studying, Erika and Coach Pat flew to Slovenia to meet up with their respective boyfriend/girlfriend, Ben came back East while I stayed at home in the Midwest. After recovering we all buckled down for a mid-winter training week. The snow hasn’t been plentiful, but we’ve made some sessions work on our “B-Skis” over at the Sun Bowl. We all convened in Stratton over the weekend for a “All the Marbles” time trial, and to celebrate Pat’s birthday (which he didn’t even want anyone to know about).
Up next we to Lake Placid for the first half of a two weekend Super Tour block. It will be fun to hit the same courses we used in the fall during our USST camp in Placid, and hopefully a little less terrifying ripping the downhills on snow instead of pavement. Thanks for following- your cheers are working!
